Task Force

Community-Driven Planning

To ensure that the Central City Community School District facilities plan reflects both current needs and long-term goals, the District convened a Master Planning Task Force. This group included district leaders, school board members, staff representatives, design team members, and community stakeholders who brought diverse perspectives to the table.

Task Force Meeting

The Task Force met over the course of several months to review facility needs, explore options, and refine priorities. Each meeting built upon the last, building toward a final plan.

  • The first sessions focused on setting guiding principles, touring facilities, and reviewing community survey feedback to understand needs and values.
  • Midway through the process, members reviewed preliminary concepts, connecting them back to what they saw on tours and what they heard from the community.
  • In the final meeting, the group solidified master plan concepts, aligning projects with the District’s bonding capacity and ensuring a plan that reflects shared priorities.

Guiding Principles

From the start, the Task Force agreed on four guiding principles for a successful plan:

  • Deliver a balanced approach across grade levels and facilities.
  • Address immediate needs while identifying long-term goals.
  • Develop a specific, strategic plan to guide future investments.
  • Ensure broad community support for the proposed improvements.

Prioritizing Projects

Projects were prioritized through discussion, evaluation of facility conditions, and consideration of both educational needs and safety/ADA requirements.

By the final session, the Task Force recommended a package of projects totaling $6.55 million, which fits within the District’s $7.36 million bonding capacity for Fall 2025.
